Went to the Saatchi Gallery today with Catherine to look at what some young artists are creating. I have a curiosity to see if anyone is doing what we are attempting to do with our installation. I saw some very interesting pieces, but nothing quite like what Meeting Places has become. There were some interesting examples of depth and scale, which I know we are going to try to experiment with more with the project. I really liked Kristen Baker's works and also Peter Coffin's piece Untitled (Spiral Staircase).
Maybe it comes from having to climb a spiral staircase 90 feet to get to a loading bay for the 5 years of my time at the Center for the Arts. It certainly wasn't this staircase! Lots of inspiration and lots to think about.
