So, I have realized that my theatre history is a little shoddy, especially for the more modern era and design. Our first "lecture" in the scenography cluster helped me to realize this. I have been reviewing what was discussed this weekend. There were many names mentioned, of which some rang some bells and others did not. I have a list of names of which I would like to do some more research into their theories and careers. Edward Gordon Craig, Adolphe Appia, Meyerhold, Schlemmer, Richard Foreman, Svoboda, the list goes on and on. I am looking forward to having the chance to delve into these artists' work and try to situate my own work in the larger scale of current theatrical practitioners.
